ECHO Editor
As the editor of the Echo (online school newspaper), this person is responsible for organizing and governing the newspaper staff, make suitable assignments to staff members, and cooperate with the adviser in determining grades for those working for credit; Submit all questionable copy, pictures, and art work to the adviser for evaluation prior to publication; Serve as an active member of SGA, regularly attend meetings;
The editor shall sign and abide by a contract with the University provided by the Vice-President/Financial Affairs and with the Student Government Association to the effect that he/she will receive a monthly stipend. The amount of the monthly stipend shall be equivalent to $2550 per traditional semester for the academic year of service as established by the SGA constitution. The stipend is subject to approval/disapproval by the Publications Board Scholarship Review Committee.
According to the Publications Board Guidelines, it is the responsibility of the Publications Board to nominate and elect the editor of the ECHO. To be eligible for nomination and election, each candidate must complete and submit the following:
1. A cover letter, addressed to Dr. Steve Betts, chair of the Publication Board, expressing interest in the position and philosophy of student publications, and its role in the community of the university (limit to one page);
2. A professional résumé, highlighting education, employment, and volunteer history, particularly as it reflects the candidate’s background in journalism (limit to one page). 3. A personal testimony, relating candidate’s current relationship with Jesus Christ and present or past roles in local churches (limit to one page);
4. Two letters of recommendation: one from a faculty member, and/or one from an employer, and/or one from a pastor;
5. An article you have written for the paper or one you would like to write (limit to one page).
ARROW EDITOR
As you know, we no longer produce a hard copy of The Arrow, SNU's yearbook. Prof. Jim Smith has worked during his sabbatical this spring on a project that will allow the Arrow to return in digital format! The first issue will be produced in the 2020-2021 academic year.
